An eccentric but universal 30-something group of friends come to know their own vanity, conceit and self-delusion only through the decline of an extraordinary child afflicted by a horrible illness. Empowered by his inexplicable wisdom, they begin the impossible work of living anew.

 

An unlikely alliance of his parents' close friends - despite their bitter romantic history - begins in secret to help the young man achieve a series of increasingly ambitious and altruistic non-negotiable goals for his life, whatever its duration.

 

His final revelation will alter the course of their lives.
